About Haven Therapy Practice
Marcia Thorsen, MS LCPC NCC
I moved to Illinois in 2012 where I met my husband. Since then, I have earned a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am a licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC) (#180014823).
I provide therapy services for children, adolescents, young adults, and adults, with depression and anxiety, trauma/PTSD, parenting concerns, individuals with neurodiversity, relationship issues/couples counseling, life transitions, difficulties with self-esteem, professional/career issues, college/school issues, stress management, sexual abuse, spirituality, and therapy for grief, loss, or bereavement.
Philip Thorsen, PhD
I have been a professor at Lincoln Trail College teaching psychology and sociology classes. I earned my master’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Auburn University, an additional master’s degree and my doctorate in Social Psychology from Walden University. I have been studying relationships for over 20 years.
I provide consulting services for couples who are trying to improve their relationships by providing insights into relationship dynamics. Applying my research in romantic relationships, I help couples identify communication pitfalls, how trust can be eroded over time, and the importance of emotional intelligence in healthy relationships.
